South Africa Kruger and Cape Town

Africa is a beautiful holiday continent. An ideal destination to get used to the way of travelling is of course South Africa. Most people are familiar with the country and have seen the impressive scenery. But which location do you choose if you are going to visit South Africa for the first time?

A trip to Cape Town, KwaZulu-Natal and Kruger National Park ensures that you, as an adventurer, experience the highlights of South Africa. With a nice combination of city trips, nature and of course safari. In this 18-day tour you will make an adventurous exploration trip along our favourite destinations of South Africa.

The trip starts in Cape Town. In our opinion one of the most iconic cities in the world. How often do you see a mountain in the middle of a city? The vibrant Cape Town has something for everyone. Whether you love culture, good food or beautiful views, Cape Town has got it all. The best viewpoint in the city? That is of course Table Mountain. Furthermore, the city also stands out because of its own penguin beaches and with Stellenbosch it also has a rich influence of beautiful wines.

After a few nights in the area of Cape Town you fly to Durban, where you continue your way to St. Lucia in KwaZulu-Natal. St. Lucia is a village located on the Indian Ocean where you can walk around and explore with a safe feeling. But be careful in the evening, because you might just come across a hippo! St. Lucia is located near the Isimangaliso Wetland park and is home to a lot of hippos, crocodiles and much more. So you can go on safari as well as on a beach holiday. Go out in search of hippos and crocodiles in the morning and then recover from all the adventure on the beach in the afternoon.

The entire KwaZulu Natal region is also a great destination for safari. With Hluhluwe, Pongolapoort and many more private game reserves, there are ample opportunities to fully enjoy the safari. Mkhuze for example is a park that is very popular with bird lovers.

From Kwazulu-Natal you drive towards the Kruger National Park. But first you make a short stop in the kingdom of Eswatini. Good options to make your stop are Hlane Royal National Park and Milwane Wildlife Sanctuary. Hlane offers an authentic bush experience and Milwane has slightly more luxurious facilities such as a swimming pool. We are happy to advise you which accommodation best suits your needs.

After the kingdom of Eswatini it is time for the most famous safari park in South Africa: the Kruger National Park. One of the best locations in the world to cross the ‘Big Five’ off your bucket list. But the Kruger Park National Park is so much more than just the famous ‘Big Five’. You will find hundreds of bird species, unique reptiles and breathtaking landscapes, from rugged rock formations to green valleys. It also has a rich cultural history. For example, visit museums in the park or ancient rock drawings. In short, this park offers a unique unforgettable experience for every adventurer.

The end of the journey is in sight, but not before you have visited the atmospheric Hoedspruit. From the Kruger National Park you drive to Hoedspruit, the place where the story of Afrikaans Safari began. In this breathtaking environment we really discovered our passion for wildlife and safari. Hoedspruit is the ideal destination, full of exciting activities such as balloon flights, quad biking and adventurous hikes. To end the journey perfectly, you follow the beautiful Panorama Route towards Graskop. A serene place to relax and enjoy a successful journey full of unforgettable moments.

No accommodations have been determined in advance for this trip. We will talk to you to see what your wishes are in order to make a customized proposal. Given the availability of accommodations, there is so much available that we would like to look at possibilities with you. This can be done for different budget options, but the amounts mentioned are for average trips.

Best travelling time

The best time to make this trip is from March to May or October and November. This way you avoid the busy African holiday months in December and January. You can also make this trip in the Dutch holiday months, but keep in mind that it can be a lot cooler then. In Cape Town you have a reasonable chance of a shower and it can be a bit colder and rainier. It is also cooler in the east of South Africa near the Kruger National Park and Kwazulu-Natal, but fortunately dry.
