Lake Mburo

Lake Mburo offers a relatively relaxed safari experience compared to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kidepo Valley National Park, or Murchison Falls National Park.

In this park, two members of the Big Five are part of the fauna: leopards and buffalos. There are rumors that lions are also making a comeback in the park. Moreover, this is the only park in Uganda where you can encounter impalas, the most common antelope species found in places like Kruger National Park and other nature reserves in South Africa.

Lake Mburo is the perfect location to conclude your journey in a relaxed manner and reflect on your safaris and encounters with gorillas while enjoying a satisfying drink and a beautiful view.

This park also offers the last chance to spot the elusive leopard if you haven’t encountered one during your trip. Bird enthusiasts can find the shoebill stork here as well.

Due to the absence of lions in this park, alternative safaris are offered, such as horseback riding or cycling. This provides a very interesting way to explore the Ugandan landscape.

We have also included Lake Mburo in our self-drive through Uganda, taking you along the highlights of the country.
